Ghana to play Qatar in friendly on October 12 This Year in Turkey.
The Black Stars has lined up a friendly against Qatar on Monday, October 12, in Antalya, Turkey.
The 2022 World Cup host, comes in to replace Equatorial Guinea who pulled out of a similar friendly, over travel restrictions.
The Black Stars were scheduled to play Mali on Friday, October 9, and Equatorial Guinea three days later in next month’s FIFA International window (except for European countries). The latter pulled out of the game, citing new travel restrictions in their country due to coronavirus. Qatar, who have a game against India on October 8, will take on Ghana four days later.
The two countries will use the friendly to prepare for their respective international competitions in November.
A communication by the Ghana Football Association indicates the Black Stars will come up against The Eagles on October 9. Three days later,she will face the National Thunder. Africa Cup of Nations doubleheader against Sudan in November.
Ghana and Mali’s last meeting came at the 2017 Afcon. Where Asamoah Gyan’s 21st-minute strike gave the Black Stars a 1-0 win in Gabon.
The upcoming games will be the first set of assignments for Ghana coach Akonnor. He assumed duty in January but has had to endure a long wait to lead the team into action. Two matches in Turkey would be useful for coach Akonnor.
Ghana top Group F with 6 points following victories against South Africa in Cape Coast and Sao Tome and Principe in November 2019.
