Parliament passes Pre-tertiary Education Bill
The Parliament of the Republic of Ghana yesterday Thursday, December 16, 2020, after thorough review successfully passed the Pre-tertiary Education Bill, the Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has confirmed.
The Pre-Tertiary Bill attempts to decentralize basic education by fusing the management of basic education/DEOs under District Assemblies (DA) while transferring management and operational functions to the Central Administrative Department of DA, leaving DEOs to concentrate on the core business of teaching and learning.
This is aimed at strengthening participation, accountability and efficiency. As the Bill has been passed, teachers will be recruited at the district level.
